Water and Power Consultancy Services (WAPCOS) was today conferred with Mini Ratna status. A Government of India undertaking under the Ministry of Water Resources, WAPCOS was conferred the Mini Ratna category-I status by Water Resources Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal here today for its outstanding performance.
Speaking on the occasion, Bansal said the company should also work towards renovation and restoration of water bodies in the country and strive to get the Nav Ratna status.
Secretary, Water Resources, D V Singh said besides aiming for foreign clients, the company should also look for more opportunities within India. During the year, the turnover of the company increased by 47.3 per cent, Profit before Tax by 109.4 per cent and new business by 25 per cent.
The company also paid dividend of 300 per cent of its paid up capital for the year, which is the highest-ever in its history.
It secured new business in countries like Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Congo, Laos, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Taiwan, Yemen and Zimbabwe. Within India, the company ventured into new fields and secured projects under various central developmental schemes.
