The countdown for the Commonwealth Games, to be held from October 3, has begun. And the city's sports lovers are now rooting for the Indian contingent to wing the gold, nothing less.
Hundreds of city residents on Sunday morning took part in a promotional event — 'Go India! Go For Gold! — organised at Connaught Place by the Hindustan Times Group.
The young and the old, mostly in jeans and tee shirts, participated in the 'Go For Gold' rally that was flagged off by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. The CWG's Organizing Committee's chairman Suresh Kalmadi also attended the event.
The participants, including Dikshit, put their handprints on specially erected billboards, on which were printed messages egging India's sportspersons to win the gold medal at the CWG.
Those present also participated in a Q&A based on sports. On offer for the winners were gold coins and wristwatches.
