For the farmer’s rally, more than 3,000 people are expected to congregate at Ramlila Maidan and march to Jantar Mantar, affecting Connaught Place and central Delhi. Arterial roads from IGI Airport to Taj Man Singh Hotel in central Delhi will be off-limits when British PM David Cameron’s cavalcade passes through.

“We are expecting more people for the farmer’s rally than estimated. The Ranjeet Singh flyover will be affected. Traffic will be stopped briefly for the British PM’s cavalcade when he arrives in the evening,” said Ajay Chaddha, special commissioner of police (traffic).

Vehicular movement is stopped entirely for the President, Prime Minister and other state dignitaries visiting the city.

Security For Cameron

The Taj Man Singh hotel, where Cameron and his delegation will stay, has become a fortress. The British premier will also be provided aerial security cover. A delegation of more than 100 people is accompanying him.

“His security is high on our agenda. We can’t take any chances. The routes taken by his cavalcade will be sanitized and adequate policemen posted on the route,” said a police officer.

Police said they have deployed commandos and snipers at the hotel. The entire area has been cordoned off. A British security unit has also reached the city to take stock of the security situation.
