West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Friday met Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and is understood to have discussed the emerging situation in Lalgarh, among other issues.
Bhattacharjee is also believed to have put forth demands for his state from the Central budget and the Centre's support for the relief and rehabilitation for the victims of cyclone Aila.
West Bengal has asked for Rs 1,000 crore Central support for the reconstruction of houses and rehabilitation work in the aftermath of the cyclone.
However, the Chief Minister refused to speak to the reporters after his meeting with Mukherjee.
Bhattacharjee, who is here to attend the politburo meeting of CPM, will be meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Home Minister P Chidambaram on Saturday.
