Wet Independence Day in Delhi

delhi Updated: Aug 15, 2011 08:03 IST

Rains accompanied by strong winds hit the national capital as the country celebrated the 65th Independence Day on Monday.

The city received incessant rainfall since late Sunday.

But there was no dearth in excitement and fervor as hundreds of people, including politicians and eminent personalities, and school children gathered at the historic Red Fort in the walled city to witness the unfurling of the tricolor.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will address the nation after the flag hoisting ceremony.
