Are you single but ready to mingle only with someone who can share your love for art, poetry or books? Then try intelli-dating — or intelligent dating, a new trend in the Capital. Young people are going to art galleries, bookshops, poetry reading sessions in search of a special someone.
Aditya Sharma’s three-year-old search for a like-minded partner ended at the Oxford Book Store six months ago. “Though I am a lawyer, I have a great interest in literature and have just finished writing a novel for children. It all happened during a casual discussion over Salman Rushdie’s Haroun and the Sea of Stories,” says a beaming Aditya.
Art galleries and poetry reading venues are the other haunts. “Poetry readings at the India Habitat Centre are packed with young men and women. A young woman publisher, a regular at our poetry reading sessions, is now getting married to a poet,” says Amit Dahiya of Delhi Poetree.
Adesh Gupta, 27, a Delhi-based engineer, met his wife Neetu, a painter, at the Lalit Kala Akademi. “I have great interest in paintings and architecture and was looking for someone who could enrich my knowledge.”
