White tiger’s enclosure gets a facelift at Delhi zoo
NEW DELHI: The enclosure of Delhi zoo’s most popular animal, white tiger Vijay, is being renovated. Zoo authorities have decided to add more space to Vijay’s enclosure and create an ambience of forest around the enclosure.
“The white tiger enclosure is being renovated. Painting and grassing of the enclosure is on. The nets around it are also being replaced. A new ramp will be made,” said Riaz Khan, spokesperson of Delhi zoo.
Vijay, along with a female tiger, Kalpana, and their four cubs, are housed in the enclosure.
Khan said that the tiger family is being temporarily shifted to another enclosure.
In 2014, Vijay had mauled a 20-year-old man to death after the man jumped into the enclosure.
Since the incident, the nineyear-old male white tiger has become a star attraction at the National Zoological Park.
