Very soon you could enjoy seamless Internet connectivity while travelling in the Metro on your way to the Delhi airport.

In a bid to attract frequent air travellers, especially business executives, the Delhi Airport Metro Private Ltd (DAMPL), a concessionaire for the Metro's airport line, is planning to provide Wi-Fi connectivity in its showcase airport express line.

The airport express line in Hong Kong boasts of Wi-Fi connectivity. Passengers need to pay for a 24-hour Wi-Fi package to use this service in stations as well as in the metro.

However, DAMPL officials did not clarify whether the service will be free of cost in the airport line here.

The much-awaited Delhi Metro Airport Express Line, which is modelled on London's Heathrow Express and Hong Kong's Metro Airport Link, missed its Commonwealth Games deadline.

It is now scheduled to start by end of November or early December but not before safety clearances from the fire department and the commissioner of Metro Rail Service, RK Kardam.

Sources said the fire safety certificate for all the stations except Shivaji Stadium station have already been issued.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is also planning to provide

Wi-Fi connectivity in the 60 buses under its recently launched DTC airport express service.

A DTC official said: "It might take a few months for us to provide Wi-Fi connectivity in our buses. This system is available in the airport bound buses in Bengaluru and we are studying the nitty-gritty of it."
