Wife, paramour held for killing husband

A woman and her paramour, who together plotted and killed the former’s husband, were arrested on Monday as police claimed to have busted the sensational murder in north west Delhi.

Police said Nasir was killed by a 24 year-old youth and one of his accomplice, in connivance with the wife of the deceased. All three have been arrested.

Nasir, a resident of Wazirpur area and a junk-dealer by profession, was found murdered at his home on February 11 with marks around his neck.

His wife Imrana told the police that he was over powered and strangulated by four people who entered their house at night. She also reported that her jewellery and a mobile phone were missing from the house.

Investigation revealed that the house was visited by two people, including a man named Shahid, who belonged to the same village as Imrana.

On interrogation Shahid revealed that he had allegedly killed Nasir, together with his acquaintance Sunil and Imrana, who he said had been forcefully married off. The two, he said wanted to get rid of Imrana’s husband.

As the two failed to give Sunil, the promised Rs 20,000 for his assistance, they gave him Imrana’s jewellery and Nasir’s mobile phone, police said.
