While cricket fans in the city are not anticipating too much on-field action today, as home team Delhi Daredevils are already out of the domestic T20 play-offs, their focus seems to be on the antics of Virat Kohli, the captain of of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Kohli, whose temper has been hitting headlines of late, has been booed by the crowds at most venues he has played at, this season.
Delhi fans can’t wait to see Virat’s verbal volleys and how he reacts to his home crowd. “He has got booed for that attitude so many times but I find it hot,” says Nisha Raj, 26. “He’s always welcome here — it’s his city,” says Siddhanth Gupta, 23.
A few days ago, after Kohli got miffed with Mumbai booing him, he said, “They have probably forgotten that I play for India as well. This is not the end of the world.”
Meanwhile, some loyal fans are still looking to support Delhi, who won’t make it to the play-offs but are playing their last home match today. “This is the last chance to cheer them on,” says Reema Sood, 19.
