Jamphel Yeshi, 27, the Tibetan man who set himself on fire on Monday afternoon, is still battling for his life with 98% burn injuries at New Delhi’s Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital.

Doctors treating Yeshi said that his condition was very critical and chances of his survival were slim.

“He is admitted in the burns intensive care unit of the hospital and is on a ventilator. He is unconscious and we have put him on strong anti-biotic medication,” said a doctor in the hospital, requesting anonymity.

He is being closely monitored by burns specialists.

Yeshi set himself ablaze to protest Chinese President Hu Jintao’s impending visit to India on Thursday this week for the BRICS summit.
