A 26-year-old woman has alleged that she was drugged and gang-raped by “two to four men” near south Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station on Tuesday evening. The police have registered a case and are verifying her allegations.

The police said two of the accused were known to the victim, a resident of east Delhi’s Geeta Colony. She stays with her husband, a taxi driver.

“Preliminary investigation has revealed that the complainant and one of the accused, identified as Jatin, were involved in a small business. We are verifying her allegations before making any arrests,” said a senior police officer.

The woman, the police said, has claimed that she had gone to the Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station on Tuesday evening with two men who were known to her. At the station, she claimed, they met two other men whom she did not know.

“She alleged that they offered her a spiked soft drink, which made her unconscious. When she regained her senses sometime later, she found herself lying near the prepaid taxi booth of the station. She called the police control room,” said the officer.

She told the police that she suspected they raped her in one of the prepaid taxis, but is unsure of the chain of events as she allegedly was unconscious.

The police are looking for witnesses who could corroborate the woman’s statement and are scanning CCTV footage.

The woman first alleged that only Jatin, 27, had raped her. Police booked him for drugging and raping her.

“But she later suspected that more than one person could have been involved. So we added the section of gang rape based on her statement,” the officer said.

The police said they had identified all the four accused but are yet to arrest them.

“The woman was sent for a medical examination,” the officer added.
