A 42-year-old woman has alleged that she was abducted from Vrindavan in Uttar Pradesh by an acquaintance who had offered her a lift, sedated and driven all the way to a south Delhi flat where she was gangraped by him and two of his associates at gunpoint on Wednesday evening.

Police said the woman, a resident of Jaipur and a mother of two sons aged 19 and 22, had said that she had encountered the accused guide, later identified as Dalip Verma, after visiting a trust which she is attached to in the afternoon.

"She stated that she had visited Mathura on December 23 to participate in a mela and was there for 3 days. On December 26, she had to come back to Delhi to buy some clothes from Chandni Chowk," said an officer.

While Verma's associates are currently absconding, a medical check up of the woman could neither confirm sedation nor sexual assault, the police said.

"She claims she got into Verma's vehicle was because he was accompanied by his wife and son. Sometime later, she said he picked up two friends," said an officer.

Subsequently, the police said, the woman said that she found herself in a flat in Kalkaji where the three men, at the behest of Verma, pointed a gun at her as they took turns to rape her.

Police said their control room received a call about the incident from one of her friends in Agra around 9:16pm. The police made some enquiry and found that the woman had made a similar complaint against Verma at Sikandara Police Station in Agra three months ago.

The police immediately despatched a team to Agra to nab Verma, who told the police that he knows the woman for the last five years. He said her repeated allegations are a tactic to arm-twist him in relation to a property in Agra.

"We have registered a case of gangrape on the basis of her statement at Kalkaji Police Station and are investigating the matter. A search for Verma's alleged accomplices is also underway," the officer added.
