A 35-year-old woman, working with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reportedly committed suicide at her Hari Nagar home in west Delhi, after being allegedly "blackmailed by one of her colleagues for money," police said.

The woman, identified as Sarita Devi, was employed as a cashier with the CBI.

Her body was rotting at her second floor house for the past three days, until her in-laws, who live on the ground floor, discovered a foul smell on Wednesday night.

Her husband Kishore Kumar is a civil engineer and is presently posted in Moscow. Police said a suicide note was found on the woman, and blamed one of her colleagues for harassing her for money.

“She claimed in the suicide note that the colleague had taken money from her and was not returning it. He had even promised to marry her. We are, however, investigating her allegations,” said Sharad Aggarwal, DCP(West).

Police said Sarita Devi is survived by two children. Her husband arrived on Friday, after which a post-mortem was conducted at Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital.

“The doctors have told us that she consumed some kind of poison. We are still investigating and have not registered any case yet,” said the officer.
