Had it not been for a crematorium in-charge, a sister would have easily escaped unscathed after killing her brother.

The police have arrested a 27-year-old woman and her paramour for killing her brother. It was the crematorium in- charge who informed the police about a murder after finding strangulation marks on the body. The police have also arrested the father of the accused for concealing the murder. The arrested have been identified as Rekha, her paramour Anil (26) and her father Sher Singh (52), a suspended Class IV employee in Human Resource Development Ministry. Police said Anil was allegedly hired by the family of Rekha's estranged husband to kill her, but he fell in love with her.

"Rekha conspired with Anil to kill her brother Sanjit, who was supposed to receive money after selling his ancestral property. The murder came to light after Deepak Sharma, in-charge of Ambedkar Nagar crematorium, found strangulation marks on his neck when his body was brought to the facility on January 14. Sanjit was a resident of Pushp Vihar. When the body was placed on the pyre, Sharma saw the injury marks. He disclosed these facts to the family members, who did not answer and insisted upon cremating the body. He got suspicious and called the PCR," said HGS Dhaliwal, deputy commissioner of police (South).

The police went to the house of the victim and found that the bed on which the victim used to sleep was broken. Later, post-mortem report ascertained that it was a case of asphyxia due to strangulation. "We also found that he got some money after selling a property which turned out to be the cause of dispute in the family. He also got the share of his ancestral land and was expecting around Rs7.5 lakh," added Dhaliwal.

Rekha got married to one Samundar Singh of Faridabad in 2002 and had three children. She got separated from her husband in 2010, and started living at her father's house and filed a divorce case. She also wanted to settle score with her husband, added Dhaliwal.
