Former Delhi minister Sandeep Kumar on Saturday surrendered before police hours after Delhi Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against him after a woman, who was seen in a sex tape with him filed a police complaint alleging she was drugged.
The MLA from Sultanpur Majra surrendered before the investigators at the office of DCP (Outer) in Pitampura where his statement was recorded, senior police officials said, reports PTI.
Earlier, in her complaint at the Sultanpuri police station in the Capital, the woman said she had no idea what Kumar did to her as she was made to have a cold drink laced with sedatives.
The woman, who is married, added that the tape was shot after Kumar became the women and child welfare minister in the Arvind Kejriwal government. She said she had applied for a ration card and was called by Kumar to his office.
Chief minister Kejriwal said in a tweet that if the woman’s allegations were correct, it was a very serious issue. “Strongest exemplary punishment shud be given to Sandeep (sic),” he wrote.
The nine-minute CD, which carried visuals of Kumar surfaced at the CM’s office on Wednesday, prompting Kejriwal to axe his cabinet colleague with “immediate effect” after a top-level AAP meeting.
Kumar was seen with two women in separate instances in the video that Kejriwal termed “objectionable”. The sacked legislator alleged he was being “targeted” because of his Dalit status.
Kumar is the third minister to face the axe from the 18-month-old AAP ministry after Jitendra Tomar and Asim Ahmed Khan.
