A 33-year-old woman and her minor sons were found murdered at their house in Uttam Nagar area of west Delhi on Friday night. Police have detained the victim’s husband Hemchand (36), a software designer, and said he could be “one of the suspects” in the case. He reportedly found the bodies when he returned from work.

The victims are Seema (33) and her sons Kunal (7) and Nishant (4). Hemchand had recently started his own computer designing shop at Sudershan Park.

“Hemchand said he found his wife on the floor and the two children on the bed. Their throats had been slit. He then called the neighbours and a call was made to the PCR. There was no electricity in the house at the time of the incident,” said a senior police officer.

Police have registered a case of murder at Bindapur police station.

Neighbours had seen Seema last around 1.30 p.m. on Friday when she had gone to pick up her children from school. They said the family hardly interacted with anyone and mostly kept to themselves.

There are two entries to the house, but for the first floor, where the victims lived, there is just one entry as the second one was used by the family on the ground floor.

Neighbours said they did not hear any screams and they got to know about the murders only after the husband informed them.

“Hemchand is clearly one of the suspects in the case,” said Shalini Singh, DCP (southwest).
