She cheated people thrice by allegedly posing as PA to then railway minister Mamata Banerjee. But every time luck did not favour her and she was arrested.
But the days she spent behind bars could not teach a lesson to the accused, Seema Malhotra (40), and she was again arrested for a similar offence by the Paharganj police on Wednesday.
Devesh Chandra Srivastava, ACP (central), said Malhotra was arrested following investigation into a complaint lodged by one Abhayjeet Singh Kalra, owner of a bakery shop in Karol Bagh.
Abhayjeet and his father were duped of R8.25 lakh by Malhotra, who promised a catering contract to them in the Railways, by claiming that she was PA to the former minister, police said.
“In August 2010, Malhotra had visited the garment shop of Abhayjeet’s mother. Soon, she befriended the Kalras. One day she requested Abhayjeet to pack some food for the minister. The next day, she told him that the minister had praised the food. She had even made him talk to a woman, who posed herself as the ex-minister, on phone,” he said.
Srivastava said Malhotra asked Abhayjeet to apply for catering contract in The Rajasthan Royals Express project. “She said the contract was of over R23 crore and she could help him bag it. He paid R5.5 lakh for the contract, which was deposited in a bank in favour of ‘RB’ Madhu Singh. RB meant railway board, while Singh is an officer in the finance department. Malhotra, then, duped his father of R2.75 lakh, promising a toilet kit tender in the same project,” he said.
