As the party looks forward to the next round of polls and a new organizational set-up, the BJP's differences have yet again begun to come to the fore.
Senior party leader and former cabinet minister Yashwant Sinha is believed to be displeased with the naming of Ravindra Rai as the BJP chief for Jharkhand. Rai is considered close to former Jharkhand chief minister Arjun Munda, who has reportedly backed him for the post.
Sources said an irked Sinha met LK Advani on Monday morning and expressed his anguish over Rai's appointment, with whom he is not known to get along well. Sinha is believed to have even threatened to resign from his Lok Sabha seat. While a section of leaders said he was keen to occupy the post, another said this may be aimed at blocking Munda from getting a key position in the BJP's national office-bearers' team to be named later this month.
Many names are doing the rounds for Rajnath Singh's new team. For the general secretary post, Ananth Kumar, Murlidhar Rao, Amit Shah, Kiran Maheshwari, Thawarchand Gehlot, JP Nadda, Arjun Munda, Varun Gandhi, Smriti Irani, Shahnawaz Hussain and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi are in the list.
But some of these may be made vice-presidents, a post where names like Uma Bharti, SS Ahluwalia, Nishank, Harsh Vardhan, Radha Mohan Singh, Najma Heptullah are also doing the rounds.
