Senior BJP leader LK Advani said his anti-corruption yatra will cover Bangalore as scheduled. He said there has been no change in plans because of the arrest of former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, who was from the BJP.
Advani told HT from Chattisgarh-Odisha border that he was surprised by reports about uncertainty of his meeting in Bangalore when he tours Karnataka later this month. “I will go to Karnataka and also to Bangalore.”
“I am travelling across the country to rouse people’s consciousness on the issue of corruption, for that is the real obstacle to good governance. We need clean politics...,” he said.
In Bangalore, Karnataka BJP chief KS Eshwarappa said Advani will hold the rally as scheduled at the city's National College grounds on October 30. On Saturday, Karnataka BJP leaders had said they were not sure of the rally in the city because of Yeddyurappa’s arrest. Also, Advani's remarks against the former CM in a land scam case had upset several of his MLAs.
On 2G spectrum scam
“I believe the probe has left some important facets out of its ambit. Despite elaborate attempts at a cover-up, the role of former finance minister and incumbent home minister, P Chidambaram, clearly merits serious investigation,” Advani said on a Delhi court framing charges against 17 accused. “What prompted the finance ministry to cha-nge its position on auctioning spectrum is still a mystery.”
