A city court has ordered a celebrity yoga guru to pay a maintenance of Rs 35,000 per month to his wife - daughter of a former Vice Chief of the Indian Air Force - for his alleged adulterous conduct.

The court also restrained him from his visiting his 3-year-old son, saying his "treacherous behaviour could influence the child".

Metropolitan Magistrate Veena Rani noted that complainant's husband, a reputed yoga guru, was having an affair with his private secretary and one more woman. The court took note of romantic SMS exchanges between the guru and the two women.

The yoga guru and his wife got married in 2004. After a few months of their marriage, the wife alleged that her husband intended to grab her parents' properties in Defence Colony.

Prabhjit Jauhar, the wife's counsel, alleged that the husband had an extra marital affair and committed several acts of violence on her.

"He was abusive in front of the child. The couple's son could have a negative influence. Therefore, custody should be granted to her along with maintenance," argued Jauhar.

The husband's counsel contended that the child should come to court and decide with whom he was willing to stay. Noting the "adulterous nature" of the yoga guru, the judge said: "The custody of the child will remain with his mother".

The court observed that it would be right to restrain the father from visiting the child at school and also at his mother's parental house.

Jauhar said the yoga guru earned over Rs 1.5 lakh per month and he could easily maintain his wife and their child.

The husband's counsel argued that the wife had fabricated a false story.

The court said prima facie it appeared that the complainant had suffered.
