There is a word of caution. The hospital in your neighbourhood may not be adequately equipped to fight a fire tragedy. The latest list from the fire department points out that seven private hospitals in the Capital are still functioning without the mandatory fire safety clearance.

Kalra Hospital, a multi-specialty facility in Kirti Nagar, has not yet been able to obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) from Delhi fire office. “The officials had come last week.

We have applied for it,” said Dr Abhinav Suri, MS at the hospital.

"We have applied for a fire NOC and hope to get it soon," said a senior doctor from the Kukreja Hospital and Heart Centre, Rajouri Garden. http://www.hindustantimes.com/Images/HTEditImages/Images/10-12-pg4b.jpg

Khandelwal Hospital and Urology centre in Krishna Nagar, Brahmashakti Heart and Research Centre and Premdhar Ayurvedic Hospital also figure among the defaulting hospitals.

“Where should one go? The big hospitals are very expensive and the smaller ones do not have their fire safety norms in place,” said Savitra Shastri, 43, a resident of Tilak Nagar.
