An event manager was arrested in south Delhi for allegedly stealing a car, that had been sold by his father, to impress his girlfriend, police said. The arrested has been identified as Gaurav Arora, 23, a resident of Jangpura.
Arora was apprehended recently during a routine check near the Basant Lok Market on December 22.
"Our team stopped a car with the number DL-7 SS 0007 during routine check. On verifying the registration number of the car, the team found that it belonged to another car,” said HGS Dhaliwal, deputy commissioner of police (south).
“Arora was interrogated at length and the original number of the car was found to be DL-3CQ-6028. He was then arrested," he added.
During interrogation, Dhaliwal said, it came to light that the car that Arora was driving was registered in the name of his father, who had sold it due to inability to pay its installments.
"Arora needed a car to impress his girlfriend, so he stole the car with the help of a duplicate key, that was already with him," Dhaliwal added.
