Two siblings from the North East were beaten up by their neighbours when they tried to stop them from clicking pictures.

A representative from North East community alleged that one of their neighbours also made videos of the girl who was living with her brother in a rented flat at Munirka in south Delhi.

“James (name changed), 30, and his sister Helen (name changed), 25, were beaten severely by a group of people at the Babulal Chowk in Murnika around 11pm on Tuesday. James suffered severe head injuries and Helen suffered facial injuries. They were admitted at AIIMS Trauma Centre,” said Madhu Chandra, spokesperson of North East helpline.

“We are verifying their claims and a case has been registered at the Vasant Vihar police station,” said a senior police officer requesting anonymity.

“When James objected, more than 10 people came to their residence, broke open the door and thrashed both,” Chandra added.

James works with a mobile service provider while his sister Helen works in a restaurant.

In another incident, two youngsters from the North East identified as Thang, 21, and Mang, 24, were attacked by a group in Munirka market around 10pm on Tuesday.
