They earlier used the social media to reach out to people. Now, with less than three months to go for the Delhi Assembly elections, they are turning to their own version of the mainstream media.
Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a newspaper, Aap Ki Kranti, to directly reach out to people. It has announced the launch of a web-based channel with the same name from August 25.
Aap Ki Kranti is an eight-page newspaper but the party has called it as “a mouthpiece for internal circulation” only. “The paper is an important document in the second freedom struggle.
This will take our voice to the people and this will be the paper that will take on directly the corrupt system,” said an announcement by AAP on Sunday.
However, Manish Sisodia, the party’s spokesperson, reiterated: “This is party’s ‘internal newsletter’ to reach out to party supporters.”
The party also announced the launch of a web-based channel available at www.aapkikranti.net. All the events related to AAP — all of Kejriwal’s meetings, rallies or videos that addresses certain target groups — would be uploaded daily.
“Earlier, too, we used to upload live feeds of important events on our website. It would now just come in a formal shape,” Sisodia said.
The party has announced that people would be able to watch AAP-related news on the channel from August 25.
The infant party has always claimed to have no resources to fight established parties, particularly the Congress and the BJP. The party has been appealing to its supporters to take copies of Aap Ki Kranti from Assembly/ward offices and distribute it in respective areas.
