What’s worrying you? It’s the NDA. All its allies seem to be washing their dirty linen in public over who should be India’s next PM. First, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar dem-ands that the NDA nominee should be secular. The votaries of Hindutva in the RSS then put Kumar in a spot for shooting off his
mouth. Then Bihar’s deputy CM, a BJP politician, endorses Kumar’s views. What in the world is happening?

I think Kumar is only trying to help the BJP become a more caring, sharing party.

This may be your opinion. If he had such a lot of ideological differences with the party, why did he partner with the BJP in Bihar in the first place? He is trying to settle scores with the Gujarat CM who put down Bihar’s growth recently. He may also be hoping to get the top slot.

But Kumar has made it clear that he doesn’t harbour any such ambition.

Oh, a sucker is born every minute. Why do you think he wants the candidate to feel for underdeveloped states like — surprise, surprise — Bihar? Does he have to be any more clear?

Do say: This is the game of the name.

Don’t say: It is still a bit unclear to all of us.
