4,500 Haryana schools to have KBC style quiz on Saturday

After the school level, the quiz would be held on block and district level and finally on the state-level which would be held as a part of golden jubilee year celebrations on November 1.

With the launching of quiz bank of over 10,000 questions for the students of class III to X by school education department in Chandigarh on Thursday, Haryana became the first state in the country to take this novel initiative towards improving the skills of students of the government schools.

However, of the total about 14,000 government schools, instructions had been given to about 4,500 schools which had facilities of computer and projectors to run this weekly question answer activity in Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) style on projectors with the help of teachers to manually run and oversee it.

Briefing newspersons in the context, additional chief secretary, school education, P K Das said the question bank was based on the syllabus of different classes. Apart from making available the quiz bank in the schools through the DVD, it would also be available on the department website for teachers to download questions.

There are about 14,000 schools with about 22 lakh students. After the school level, the quiz would be held on block and district level and finally on the state-level which would be held as a part of golden jubilee year celebrations on November 1.

He said that this quiz bank would have questions based on general awareness, history and culture and would help increasing the logical reasoning of the students.

Das said that assistance of various professional agencies had been taken in preparing this quiz bank. According to plans, the state He said that Haryana was also the first state in the country where skill pass book of each student had been prepared.
