54.42% pass Gujarat board Class 10 exam, lowest in a decade

Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) has declared the results of the Class 10 examinations in the state on Thursday. The pass percentage this year is 54.42%, which is the lowest in a decade and 9% less than 2014.

“The results for the class 10 exams have been declared, the pass percentage is 54.42%,” said a senior official of the board. Predominantly tribal Chhota Udepur district has the worst pass percetage of just 20%, while Junagadh has the best pass percentage of 74%.

This year 303 schools in the state had 100% pass rate, while whopping 2,389 schools had just 30% pass rate in the class 10 results.

More than 10 lakh students had appeared in the examination which was conducted in March 2015.

The students can check their results on the state board's website www.gseb.org.

The students can access their results and also print the score card in PDF form from the website.

However, the score card will be for the reference purpose only as the original mark sheets is to be issued by the respective schools. The results are accessible using exam role number.

Those who don't have access to the internet facility can get the results through their mobile phones. Candidates can also contact the Examination Control Department of Gujarat Secondary Board.

Meanwhile, as compared to the previous years, more students wrote the exam this year. "On an average, nine lakh students take the exam every year but this year the figure crossed 10 lakh," said an official from the board.

The exam was conducted in 335 centres spread over 30 districts in the state.
