The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) announced the results of this year's Chartered Accountants (CA) final exam on Thursday. Two candidates from Delhi and Secunderabad were ranked on top after scoring 75.75% marks in the exams, held in May this year.
Out of a total of 42,847 candidates who appeared for the exam, the pass percentage was recorded at 8.26%, a marginal rise from the 8.23% who passed in the exam held in November 2014.
The second rank was secured by a student from Andhra Pradesh's Machilipatnam, and Mumbai's Deval Modi came third nationally with 71.88%.
While the exam is considered one of the most difficult to crack, the pass percentage has been steadily rising over the past two years. Last year, in the exam held in May 2014, 7.29% candidates passed, compared to the 3.11% who cleared the November 2013 exams. These figures, however, are way less than the pass percentages in November 2012 (12.97%) and May 2012 (16.38%).
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) conducts the CA final exam twice in a year, in May and November, for which thousands of students appear.“Chartered accountancy profession is growing by leaps and bounds. We have high hopes from our students as we consider them highly committed, focused and hardworking”, said Manoj Fadnis, president, ICAI.
