The Doon School has announced a Summer at Doon leadership programme to run from June 1-15, 2014. The two-week residential course is designed for boys and girls in grades 9-12 from all over the country and abroad.
This is a special opportunity for them to learn the art, science and practice of leadership at The Doon School. The programme is being supported by Aspire, a provider of youth leadership programmes. Core elements of the course are being taught by experienced Doon School masters — notably team work, adventurousness, trekking and social service. The curriculum is delivered in an intensive and lively learning environment which enables students to reflect on the nature of leadership through theoretical enquiry, Socratic dialogues and ‘real world’ case studies. Through these, they combine theory and reflection with the experiential and practical aspects of how to be an effective and influential leader.
The programme will enable students to explore and understand the pressing necessity for wise and inspirational leadership.
Summer at Doon also includes guest lecturers such as Lieutenant Abhilash Tomy, a commander in the Indian Navy and the first Indian national to sail a solo, unassisted, non-stop circumnavigation of the globe, and Arunima Sinha, the first female amputee to climb Mount Everest.
