Students are not the only ones confused over Delhi University’s new pre-admission forms. It has even baffled university officials.

While DU has allowed students to fold the form once, officials at distribution centres are rejecting forms that are even slightly folded. Student Yogesh Sharma took about half an hour to fill the form diligently to avoid any mistakes.

However, when he walked up to the submission counter at Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College — a distribution centre — his form was promptly given back to him.

The official at the counter asked him to fill a new form. Sharma is not alone. Forms of about 40 per cent students were rejected as they were folded.

“Folded form would not be read by the scanning machine and it would eventually be rejected by the university,” said the official. University officials, however, have a different story to tell.

“Students are allowed to fold the form but not more than once. It seems officials of that centre were getting ‘overcautious’. I’ll speak to them,” said SK Vij, Dean, Students’ Welfare.

Folded forms are not the only issue confusing the students. “We are still receiving many forms that are incomplete,” said Vij.
