Undergraduate admissions at Delhi University’s School of Open Learning (SOL) starts on Friday.
The admission process will be completely online, including payment of fees. SOL offers five undergraduate courses. Students can visit sol.du.ac.in and register for admissions.
Students from the person with disability (PwD) and below poverty line (BPL) categories will be able to apply in person also.
“Students from PwD and BPL categories will have to get bring their card and certificates with them,” said C S Dubey, SOL director.
SOL, which admits nearly 1.5 lakh students every year in its undergraduate courses, offers BA (Programme), Political Science (hons), English (hons), BCom, and BCom (hons). It also offers five postgraduate courses.
“The online process is effective. A student can now be admitted in less than seven minutes and get his receipt, identity and admit cards, mark sheets and provisional certificates with bar/QR code simultaneously,” he said.
The last date for admission is August 31 without late fee and September 15 with late fee. “Students who take admission after August 31 will have to submit R200 as late fee,” said Dubey.
Dubey said SOL has seen an increase in the number of students with 80% and above score in Class 12 Board.
“BA (Programme) and BCom are the most sought after courses at SOL. As many as 86,696 students were admitted to BA (Programme) while 33,718 got admission in BCom last year,” Dubey said.
The annual fee for undergraduate courses is around R3,500.
BA (Programme): 40% or above in Class XII
English (hons): at least 65% aggregate in Class XII
Specific Requirement- 70% marks in the English Core Language in Class XII and 60% in aggregate or 60% marks in English Elective and 60% in aggregate
Political Science (hons): At least 50% in the aggregate with Political Science in Class XII
Specific Requirements: 60% marks in the aggregate without Political Science in Class XII and 45% in aggregate with Political Science
B.Com: 40% or above in Class XII
B.Com (hons: 55% in Aggregate, or 60% Aggregate of vocational/technical stream with commerce in Class XII
Specific Requirements: The number of seats in Business Data Processing (Subsidiary) for B.Com.(Honours) is limited and admission will be on the basis of merit.
