Ananya Shriyam of DPS Haridwar tops Uttarakhand's CBSE Class 12

Ananya Shriyam of Delhi Public School (DPS), Haridwar, topped in Uttarakhand with 97.8% marks in the CBSE Class 12th results declared on Monday. Suvarna Bisht of Doon International School in the capital ranked second in the state with 97.4% marks.

Ananya, daughter of Sashi Bhushan, deputy general manager (DGM) in BHEL (Haridwar), and Deepam, a housewife, aspires to become a doctor.

"Since childhood I wanted to become a doctor. I have given Pre-Medical Tests (PMTs) and I am hoping to secure MBBS seat in one of the colleges. I want to support ailing people of the country," Ananya told Hindustan Times.

Regular studies and focus, she says, helped her score so high in her exams. Talking about her daily schedule, Ananya claims that she used to study only for three hours every day, and for just up to four hours during the exam days. However, she also used to take breaks in between by listening to music and treating herself to junk food.

Second-ranked Suvarna scored 100 in Home Science, 99 in Chemistry and 98 in Physics. She aims to become an engineer. Sahil Bhargava and Subham of Scholar's Home bagged 96.6%. Dhananjai Nautiyal of DAV Public School bagged 96.4% while Tushar Nautiyal of the same school got 95%. Ayush Jain of Birla Vidya Mandir in Nainital topped the district with 95.6%.

At the National Institute of Visually Handicapped (NIVH) in the capital, Hemraj of Chitrakoot got the top rank with 91.6% marks: He scored 458 out of 500. Ram Singh of Rajasthan stood second with 90.5%, and Sagar of Jharkhand bagged 88%. Principal Kamalbeer Jaggi told Hindustan Times that a total of 19 students of the institute gave CBSE 12th exams and all passed with first division.

Gauri Singh of The Asian School received 96% in humanities followed by Shraddha Tripathi with 95.5% in Science. Anushka Rawat and Harshit Shrivastava bagged 95% each. Twenty five students of the batch scored over 90% marks at the school.
