Aabhas Sharma is only 12 but he has already passed the higher secondary exam conducted by Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE), the results of which were declared on Monday evening.
Aabhas scored 325 out of 600 marks, scoring 65% to get a first division. Two years ago, Aabhas became a celebrity in town when he passed Class 10 at the age of 10.
His father, Sachin Sharma, started a school in his name in 2004, a year after his birth.
“I admitted Aabhas to class 1 at 3-year-and-a-half -year,” said Sharma, also the director of Aabhas Public Senior Secondary School in Jaipur’s Durgapura area. “He skipped class 4. He was very bright and we thought he didn’t need to study the pre-primary classes.”
Aabhas’s younger brother Aryan, who is only two years younger to him, is in class 4.
The prodigy wants to be a doctor but his father is worried that he cannot take medical entrance exam before he turns 17. “We are not sure how we will come around that issue - maybe we will move court to get permission to sit for the entrance exams,” Sharma said.
He proudly points out that Aabhas didn’t study too much even during exams. “The two brothers were playing cricket even a day before exams and he would study only the night before the test. It’s true he hasn’t scored too high but for me, it’s enough that he cleared the exam in first division,” Sharma said.
