Condemning denial of admission to a topper in a public school in New Delhi, CBSE Chairman Ashok Ganguly on Friday opposed admission test by schools for Class XI saying students, who clear class X examinations, should not be asked to write the test.

Condemning denial of admission to a topper in a public school in New Delhi, CBSE Chairman Ashok Ganguly on Friday opposed admission test by schools for Class XI saying students, who clear class X examinations, should not be asked to write the test.

"It is wrong on part of schools to conduct an admission test for Class XI when a candidate has already cleared the Board examinations," Ganguly said. He said the practice of parents also being interviewed was wrong.

Sixteen-year-old Garima Godara, daughter of a police constable, had scored 97.6 per cent in her Class X examination but was allegedly denied admission by a public school in Dwarka in South West Delhi.

The girl was allegedly denied admission on the grounds that she had not scored well in English in the test conducted by the school and that her father could not afford to pay the fees.
