National Talent Search Examination, the flagship activity of NCERT, has announced the dates for the year 2007. The NTSE 2007 for 1000 scholarships in each category, for class VIII and X will be conducted in two phases.
As per the new scheme announced by NCERT, from this year the students will be offered scholarships from Class VIII and Class X.
The scholarships are offered to the students pursuing education in different streams including sciences, social sciences, engineering, medicine, management and law.
In the professional courses like engineering, medicine, management and law, assistance is provided upto post-graduation level, whereas in other streams students can get assistance upto the PhD level.
The NTSE will be conducted at two levels — a) Class VIII and b) Class X from the year 2007. 1000 Scholarships will be awarded for each group, and some will be reserved for SC and ST students. Stage - I and will be conducted on 11 and 12 November 2006, while Stage - II (national) exam will be conducted on 13 May 2007.
Students of class VIII and X of recognised school are eligible to appear for the exam. One can apply to the concerned State Liaison Officers or download forms and details from NCERT website www.ncert.nic.in.
