To ensure the counseling process of IITs and NITs are not delayed, the HRD ministry has recommended states to declare Class 12 results before May 31, sources said. A meeting was held on Wednesday, which was attended by a number of national and state-level education boards to discuss a number of issues including moderating results and delay in declaring results.
A number of state boards, including those of Bihar, Jharkhand, Telangana, Assam, Kerala and Karnataka, have delayed submitting their results in the past, leading to delays in publishing ranking lists which in turn delayed the joint counselling for admissions to IITs and NITs.
“We have requested the states and they have assured us that they will look into the matter,” said a senior official.
A number of critical issues such as the existing system of setting question papers, marking pattern and evaluation process was also taken up in the meeting. “A number of issues were discussed such as teaching-learning process in classromms, making the evaluation system more robust among others,” said a senior HRD official.
