DU first cutoff list out: Answers to everything you wanted to know

Delhi University announced the first cutoff list for admissions to its colleges on Wednesday night. Even though there will be subsequent lists before the admissions are closed for this year, here are answers to all the questions you may have regarding the process.

What documents should I carry to the college after I qualify in a list? 

You need to carry the following documents to the college after qualifying in a cutoff list.

1. Class X Board Examination Certificate

2. Class X marks sheet

3. Class XII marks sheet

4. Class XII Provisional Certificate / Original Certificate

5. Character Certificate (recent)

6. SC/ST/PwD/Children of War Widows/Kashmiri Migrant certificate (in the name of the candidate) issued by the competent authority (if you fall under any of these categories)

7. OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) Certificate (in the name of the Candidate) issued by competent authority (if you fall under any the category)

8. Transfer Certificate from school / college as well as Migration Certificate from Board / University are required from those students who have passed senior secondary exam from outside Delhi

9. At least two passport size self-attested photographs.

What is the procedure for fee payment?

If you meet the requisite cutoff, log-in to the DU web portal and select the college and course where you want to take admission. Take a print out of the form and go to the respective college for verification of mark sheets and other documents. Once your admission is approved from the college, they will update it on their web portal and send you a message on your phone. You will then have to make online fee payment through the DU web portal.

What is the process for switching courses in the same college?

If you meet the cutoff for another course, you will have to withdraw the first admission and apply afresh.

What is the process for switching colleges after the first cut off is announced?

If you want to switch college, then you will have to cancel your first admission and apply afresh.

Can I take admission in a college in the second cut off if I already cleared its first cut off?

Candidates who could not take admission in a cut-off list can be considered for admission in the immediate next cut-off list only on the last date of admission but that is subject to availability of seats.

When will the next cutoff come?

The next cutoff will be announced on July 4 night and admissions will begin on July 5 morning.

What is the process of reimbursement of fees if I withdraw admission?

If you decide to withdraw admission from a college to take admission in another during second cutoff, then the cancellation of the admission will be done at the specific colleges and fee will be refunded by the college as per rules.

What are the dates for college orientation date?

Each college will have a different orientation date. Check the college website for it.

What if I miss the cut off by 0.25%?

You will have to go to the college where your marks meet the exact cutoff.

Can I block two seats for two courses/colleges?

No. You cannot take admission simultaneously in two different courses or same courses in different colleges. In case you take admission at two places, your admission will be cancelled from both the colleges/courses.

What if the cut offs for two colleges are the same? Which one do I go for?

A lot will depend on your location so choose a college which is easy to commute. But if travelling is not a problem then look at ECA and sports activities available in the college if you are interested.

Will there be a second cut off for a popular course (what if the available number of seats in a college get filled)?

It depends on the number of admissions in the first list. If the seats are filled in all categories then there will no further list.

By what percentage are the cut offs likely to fall?

It will depend on the number of admissions in the first list. Usually there is a drop of .25-1.00 percentage points drop in second cutoff.
