With the multitude of games open to students in colleges, many despite of the low percentages, dipping down as much to 40%, are able to secure a seat comfortably due to their skills and prior experience, while others continue facing set downs due to the soaring cut-offs.
Although the physical exhaustion of the admission process is not over, yet the enthusiastic sports quota students find comfort in the fact that the ‘fitness camps’ have commenced in colleges like Gargi and Kamla Nehru Colleges.
While other colleges like LSR, Venkateswara and Maitreyi Colleges are still shelving for the academic year to begin. While the menacing process of transfers, migrations to other colleges and admissions for the reserved category students persists, the sports category students including the freshers have begun their warming up sessions.
“This helps the students to mix around with the seniors and the coaches, and get familiar with the equipment,” said Sonia Pawar, a first year BA Programme student at Kamla Nehru College.
“Getting started earlier is always benefiting as we get to work on our skills after the long summer break,” said Anuradha Joshi, a second year student, she plays football and is also involved in boxing.
