A real estate consultant offers advice to potential homebuyers on various property options. They take into consideration various price brackets.Today, a real estate consultant has to perform multiple roles such as transaction management services, market feasibility studies, location strategies, investment advisory, valuation services, strategic research, transaction management services, site management services, project management services etc.
The advent of many international consultancy firms in India has brought a greater degree of professionalism in this field. “Today, the real estate industry attracts personnel as varied as business management professionals, engineers, architects, and master planners, among others. But while there are quite a few premium institutes in the country offering urban planning/master planning courses, there is a shortage of manpower trained in real estate transactions and management related skills,” says Anshuman Magazine, chairman and managing director, CBRE South Asia Pvt. Ltd, a property consultancy firm.
Recently established institutes like the RICS School of Built Environment in collaboration with Amity University, which is an industry-led initiative supported by the Ministry of Urban Development, have begun to address this gap. Graduation, post-graduation and doctoral courses in real estate and urban infrastructure, construction management, construction economics, etc are offered in these institutes.
“After metros and tier-I cities, top builders are now paying attention to tier-II and III cities such Lucknow, Haridwar, Vrindavan, Varanasi, Patna, Indore etc. Career opportunities are expanding,” observes Pawan Jasuja, director, Finlace Consulting, a property brokerage and consultancy firm.
“The CTC for a beginner starts from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000 per month and it can go up to more than a lakh just in few years depending upon the candidates’ ability,” says Kamal Dutta, managing director, DPL Group, a Delhi based real estate firm.
