Interested in a Master's degree in law of financial services and capital markets? Apply at NALSAR, the prestigious national law university in Hyderabad, where 60 seats are up for grabs.

Admissions are open for all graduates, not necessarily law graduates, with a minimum of 50 per cent marks. You'll be required to appear for an interview and will also be made to write an essay, informs Y. Anita, assistant coordinator of this programme.

NALSAR aims to equip law students with basic foundation, knowledge and practice in core financial areas of banking, insurance sectors and capital markets. “A lot of litigation in courtrooms are related to finance and insurance products, which makes it important for legal professionals to ace these laws,” says Anita. The curriculum and faculty support has been extended by the Institute of Insurance and Risk Management, Hyderabad(IIRM). Some faculty teachers will be sent by IIRM to teach insurance and finance, while the law teachers will come from NALSAR.

The admissions are open to the students from across the country and the last date to apply is August 16.

Aviation law and air transport management
Another programme recently started by NALSAR is a postgraduate diploma in aviation law and air transport management. This one-year diploma course offers a blend of onsite and online course modules and is spread over two semesters. It includes five modules, two on aviation law, and two on management and one dissertation.

NALSAR has also partnered with the department of civil aviation of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which will send faculty and train students using its airports/airlines facilities. “After the privatisation of airports, there is a huge demand of professionals who understand aviation law and management but unfortunately not even a single varsity offers a full fledged programme in aviation,” says Prof V Balakista Reddy, head, Center for Air & Space Law, NALSAR University of Law. Though the programme is open for fresh graduates, there is an executive programme too, which is open only for working professionals.

“There was a lot of interest from professionals, so we started an executive programme. It's for them that we will conduct most classes online and on site lectures will last only for four days. The students will also undergo internship at airports in UAE and India,” he adds.
