Ambedkar University Delhi
Aimed at reinventing social sciences with a focus on innovation, AUD introduced a four-year BA honours degree format in 2010. It has three types of honours degrees: three-year BA (hons) with a major in a single discipline; three-year BA (hons) with a major in social sciences and humanities; and a four-year BA (hons) degree with a dual major in two disciplines. There is no separate admission for a dual major programme.
Students admitted to a single major are allowed to apply for a dual major in the final year of their programme. There will be about 1600 seats for all programmes for 2014-15, including master’s and PhD.
“We plan to start two new courses — MA in social entrepreneurship and MA in early childhood care and education. AUD also aims to streamline its admission process.
Students can apply online as well as offline. Student volunteers will run the university helplines guiding parents and students coming to the campus. The volunteers will get an opportunity to hone their communication, managerial and people skills,” says Professor Kuriakose Mamkoottam, dean, student services. Programmes on social design and publishing will be included in the second cycle of admissions. The university is planning to expand its infrastructure by developing its permanent campus at Dhirpur in north Delhi and another one in Rohini.
Indira Gandhi Delhi technical university for women (IGDTUW)
Given the status of a university last year it is going strong with its expansion plans. This year, the programmes launched included PhD programmes in computer science and engineering; electronics and communication engineering; mechanical and automation engineering; information technology; applied sciences and interdisciplinary areas like nanotechnology and environmental sciences and computer applications. These will be open to both female and male candidates. IGDTUW also offers BTech degrees in all these disciplines, and MCA and MTech courses exclusively for women. “There are plans to start PG diploma programme in e-governance in collaboration with the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology, BTech in electrical and electronics engineering, BArchitecture and MArch in town planning and urban design and MTech in nanotechnology programmes in future,” says Nupur Prakash, founder vice chancellor of the varsity.
The university offers MBA, MSc, MTech and MA programmes. This year, it will be starting a new master’s programme in water science and governance. This will be a multidisciplinary programme leading to an MTech or MSc degree. It will focus on cross-cutting issues of water resources through courses related to the science, engineering, legal, governance, and socio-economic dimensions. The varsity is planning to set up more campuses in cities other than New Delhi. The admissions process has some new features. “While the common entrance test will continue, great stress will be laid on marks obtained in school and at the bachelor’s level, as well as on personal interaction with a committee of faculty, which will be done through an interview either on a face-to-face basis or on Skype,” says Rajiv Seth, registrar.
Delhi Technological University
DTU has introduced a number of new courses with a view to integrate advancements in science and engineering, besides incorporating industry-relevant technologies. At the undergraduate level, the university has introduced engineering physics and mathematics and computing to create a sound science base for budding engineers. The department of electronics and communication has added MTech in robotics and machine design.

Aastha Arora, Ambedkar University Delhi
Continuous assessment at AUD gives scope for improvement to students. Also, it helps the students to get an analysis of where they stand and how much more effort needs to be put in. Students at AUD understand they are free to express their views. In spite of this freedom students know their limits and everyone lives like a family with unity
Khyati Suneja, Indira Gandhi Delhi technical university for women
Our university is growing fast and is not far behind wellknown technical colleges such as DTU, NSIT and also the NITs. Handsome placements are one of the most attractive things about the college. The college offers us enough freedom to work towards our professional goals and does not just keep us bound to the curriculum
Nakul Pritam, Delhi Technological University
I completed my MTech from DTU and I am currently pursuing my PhD in software quality from the same university. Being the first engineering institution in Delhi, DTU has a rich legacy and heritage. Another important aspect of the university is the fact that it has some of the best faculty across various engineering disciplines - be it in the undergraduate, postgraduate or PhD level. DTU also has an enviable placement record with some of the best companies recruiting from here. It is a great option for anyone who is considering a serious career in engineering or research, a sit offers the best of everything.
Swati Goyal, TERI University
The expertise of faculty members here makes the learning experience quite inspirational. The classroom teaching is absolutely cutting-edge. There are numerous opportunities to interact with experts from the industry. The major advantage is that the credentials of the university provide us with a platform to reach out to the relevant industries for internships and projects
