Social network

The importance of success has been a topic of emphasis for children today. Whether it is from parents, teachers, peers... we all are constantly being bombarded with the pressure to succeed. There can be no doubt that it is important for children to strive for success to do well. And, of course, we are reminded time and again that there is no shortcut to success. So here’s how you can take a few steps further towards achieving your goal.

Time management: Time is the most precious resource available, and also the most easily wasted. Procrastination is the biggest enemy, as we always end up complaining of shortage of time. It is necessary for us to learn to be organised so as to prevent a work overload at the last minute.

Support system: It is a must to have a social circle that you can turn to for support. Socialising is the best form of de-stressing A well-developed social network provides us with extended relationships that can be relied on in times of stress.

Learn from mistakes: While we are constantly being told about the importance of doing well, we know nobody is perfect. We all make mistakes and so should be open to admitting our weaknesses and learning our lessons from our failures instead of giving up hope.

Prioritising: The only way of dealing with our time-packed schedules and deadlines is to be planned and organised. We need to plan our day in advance, to avoid having to pull out our hair at the last minute!

Individual identity: Despite the competitiveness in the world around us, we need to always remind ourselves of our own uniqueness as individuals. We need not be a part of the bandwagon, running the rat race, losing our sense who we actually are, and what we want to be.

Keenness to learn: An interest in and openness to learning is an essential ingredient of success. Unless we are motivated to do so we will get nowhere. We need to be aware of our ambitions, and work towards achieving them.

Healthy lifestyle: In the midst of a busy schedule, our lifestyle is one of the first and most commonly neglected aspects. A regular routine, with adequate sleep and appetite are essential. We must take out time for some form of physical exercise on a regular basis, as a healthy lifestyle is one of the major keys that keeps you physically as well as mentally healthy and happy.

Enjoying each moment: Lastly, we must not allow ourselves to get swallowed in by our hectic lifestyle. Instead, we need to learn to live each moment to the fullest and try to find pleasure in the smallest of things you do.
