The lowdown
Vaastu shastra is the science (shastra) which deals with architecture and construction. It’s an ancient science which explores how forces of nature act upon structures and found application in construction of temples, for demarcation of ‘holy’ spots ideal for a sanctum sanctorum or installation of idols. Later, vaastu was used for forts and dwellings of nobility. Today, many modern families like to live in homes which are vaastu-compliant. Vaastu shastra aims to tap positive energies in your homes which make you happy and prosperous and keep negativity at bay. The concept of vaastu is based on gravitational forces, cosmic energy and the magnetic field of the earth. The purpose of vaastu shastra is to maintain a balance between man’s life and nature, and it touches upon all facets of his/her life- career, health and income. The popularity of vaastu in the country is growing by the day. However, not everyone is well equipped to handle this art properly. Though this is fast emerging as a lucrative career option, there are not many trained vaastu experts. It is, thus, important to remember that it takes many years of experience, hard work and patience to establish oneself in the profession
