The JEE (Main) 2014 paper 2 is a pen and paper based test. Students who wish to apply for B Arch/B Planning need to take paper 2. However, those who wish to opt for both BE/B Tech and B Arch/B Planning need to appear for both paper 1 and paper 2 of JEE (Main). A total of three attempts are allowed for each candidate writing the JEE (Main) 2014 paper 2.
Exam Pattern:
Part I: This will be a mathematics test with 30 objective questions for 120 marks.
Part II: This will be an aptitude test covering general awareness, reasoning and analytical skills with 50 objective questions for 200 marks.
Part III: This will be a drawing test with two questions for 70 marks.
Preparation Strategy Mathematics test: Pay more attention to vectors and 3D. Last year, more importance was given to algebra, calculus and co-ordinate geometry.
Trigonometry must not be ignored as it can help you maximise your scores. Chapters like mathematical reasoning /determinants must also be covered. Refer to past years’
AIEEE papers, and sample test papers to understand what to expect in the exam.
Aptitude test : About 60% of the paper is about visualising 3D objects from 2D drawings, and 40% is about awareness of persons, places, buildings, materials related to architecture. Refer to some material on building drawing and practise visualisation of 3D figures from a 2D perspective.
Drawing test: Students must be familiar with creating 2D and 3D compositions, to name a few. Prior knowledge of engineering/building drawing will help.
