Yale University and IIM-Kozhikode (IIM-K), in separate programmes, have announced training modules for Indian politicians. Global political-economic affairs and the challenges of leadership are the focus of the 5th India-Yale Parliamentary Leadership Programme that will be held from June 16 to 25, 2011. Sachin Pilot, Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology; Manish Tewari, the official spokesperson for the All-India Congress Committee; and Rajiv Pratap Rudy, the official spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party are all set for Yale.
The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) will be imparting smart governance workshops for the newly sworn in ministers of the Government of Kerala, as announced by Chief Minister of Kerala Oommen Chandy.

Yale University, widely recognised for educating leaders in government, business, and civil society worldwide, launched the India-Yale Parliamentary Leadership Programme in 2007, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the India-US Forum of parliamentarians.

The 2011 cohort of 13 members of India’s parliament will come to the Yale University campus in New Haven, Connecticut on June 16 to begin a six-day leadership programme with Yale faculty that will be complemented by a three-day programme of meetings, discussions, and interactions in New York City.

According to Yale President Richard C. Levin, “The India - Yale

Parliamentary leadership programme underscores Yale’s longstanding commitment to educating our students for service and leadership. We have now gone a step further to include emerging and midcareer leaders. The programme will provide the parliamentarians with opportunities to critically think about the challenges of leadership and to explore freely, away from the legislative arena, the issues facing India.”

The India-Yale Parliamentary Leadership Programme was developed in consultation with the parliamentarians and the India-US Forum of Parliamentarians and reflects the belief that exposure to new fields and ideas can offer insight, perspective, and new ways of thinking for one’s own work. Lectures, discussions, and private meetings with renowned practitioners in their areas will complement the curricular activities of the Yale programme.

Faculty for the programme are drawn from experts at Yale, as well as research institutes, government offices, and the private sector.

The IIM-K-Kerala government initiative is aimed at achieving increased productivity and efficiency by sharpening the governance skills, goal-based planning and result-oriented working strategies of the state’s ministers and their respective departments.

The workshop focus will be on effective leadership, good governance and instant delivery mechanism ensuring the timely reach of the government's programmes and benefits to the target audience.

Given its niche positioning, IIMK has again proved to be a thought leader by sustaining its diversity of student profiles. The academic batch of year 2011-2013 will include 33% women as compared to 30% last year.

As a pioneer in leadership training, IIMK is confident that this workshop will enhance the governance skills of India's leaders, imparting Kerala with the ability to set a global footprint in the sector of economic development.

This truly iterates IIMK's positioning as a leader in management education.
