A local girl, Deepshikha Sharma, has cleared the UPSC exam in the first attempt and securing 33rd position at the national level.

Her parents Bhim Sain Sharma and Sunita Sharma, residents of Urban Estate here, are lecturers in a local government school. Deepshikha passed her Class-12 examination from Little Flower School, Kaithal, and then did her BTech (electronic communication) with honours from Kurukshetra University.

Deepshikha said that she was proud of her parents who always stood by her and boosted her morale. “Provided the right environment, girls can achieve anything in life. My area of preference would be empowerment of women and strengthening of panchayati raj institutions,” she added.

Her parents said their daughter had made them, the people of Kaithal and Haryana proud.
