Karnataka II PUC supplementary result: 26.34% pass, pass percentage highest in science stream

Results of the Karnataka Second Pre-University supplementary exams that were announced in Bengaluru on Tuesday revealed a spike in the pass percentage over the last year.

Even so, the pass percentage was only 26.34% as against 20.87% the previous year. Only 66,320 of the 2,51,781 students, who appeared for the exam managed to pass.

While this represents an uptick over the previous year, it is lesser than pass percentages recorded in the two years before last year. While the percentage was 29.99% in 2015, it was 30.78% in 2014.

In the exams, held between June 28 and July 8, girls continued to do better than boys, with the pass percentage for the former being 29.8% as against 23.9% for the latter.

Those appearing for the exams in the Kannada medium fared worse than those appearing in English medium, with pass percentages of 22.15% and 30.47%, respectively.

The pass percentage was highest in the science stream (34.13%), followed by commerce (25.61%). Only 20.68% of students from the arts stream passed the exams.

The last date for submitting applications for reevaluation is August 3. The fee for reevaluation is Rs 1,260 per subject.
