With Haryana governor Kaptan Singh Solanki releasing Kurukshetra University anthem, the varsity has one finally after 60 years of its inception.

Solanki released anthem ‘Kul Geet’ at the inaugural function of the varsity’s national-level youth festival ‘Ratnawali’ on Tuesday.

Collectively written by Sanskrit department teacher Vibha Aggrawal, former English teacher Dinesh Dadhichi and director youth and cultural affairs, CDS Kaushal, the anthem ‘vedbhoomi ye karmbhoomi hai, gyan bhakti ka amit roop hai, kurukshetra vishwavidyalya’ has been jointly sung by Munish Kumar and Suchismita, teachers in the varsity’s music department. The anthem has been composed by Kumar and directed by Suchismita.

The lead flute has been played by Pt Ajay Prasanna while rhythms have been played by Yunus Hussain and Ilyas Khan. The guitar in the anthem has been played by Gurpreet Singh, synthesiser by Amandeep, sound mixing by Ravi Gautam and videography by Vibhor Sharma. Chorus included Purnima, Ritu, Ravi, Arun and Sarvesh.

Kaushal told HT that it was elevating to have an anthem for the varsity, which was incepted in January 11, 1957. “The idea to have one was conceived by vice-chancellor KC Sharma who formed a committee for the same,” he added.
