Language teaching as a profession has tremendous scope in India at least for another 20 to 30 years. In fact, there is very high demand in the job market for language experts, especially for East Asian Languages like Japanese, Korean and Chinese and some of the European languages like French, German and Spanish.

A number of universities in India are not able to start foreign language courses due to unavailability of qualified teachers.

A language teacher should not only understand the level, aptitude, need and requirements of the learners but also be familiar with various foreign language teaching methodologies and tools to get the student interested in the language.

Besides mastering a foreign language, familiarity with language teaching methods is essential. A foreign language teacher should be capable of generating interest in learners and enhancing their level of proficiency
